What to eat during a holiday on Elba Island: six dishes to taste

The typical dishes of Elba Island are several. And the Tuscan culinary tradition is very ancient and rich. And if you want to know what to eat during a holiday on Elba Island, these are the six dishes that you have to taste.

Stoccafisso alla riese – It’s one of the most famous Elba Island recipes. The stockfish is cooked in a terracotta saucepan and prepared with garlic, parsley, potatoes, onion, tomatoes, hot pepper, black olives, anchovies, capers, pine nuts.

Schiaccia briaca – This is a Christmas sweet, but you can taste it all the year round. Schiaccia briaca is prepared with raisin, pine nuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds and a glass of Aleatico (a dessert red wine of Elba Island).

Oil – Tuscany and its island are very famous for their oil. There are several types of oil, each of them has a unique flavor. The best way to taste the oil of Elba is on a slice of bread.

Honey – On Elba Island you can taste several types of honey, such as mixed flower, eucalyptus, chestnut, heather, rosemary, cardoon.
