Elba Island: Philippe Daverio is the winner of the literary prize the Tore

A cultural event that, this year, reaches its fourteenth edition. Which has rewarded distinguished names such as Giorgio Faletti and Andrea Camilleri. And also the 2018 edition of the Tore literary Prize on Elba island will certainly not be less.

Professor Philippe Daverio is the winner of the 2018 edition of the Tore prize. On July 21st, the Prize Opera will be presented to him for his long career in art history, which began in the early 1970s in Milan and then in New York. The awarding of the prize will also be an unmissable opportunity to discuss art and culture, both “high” and “popular”, but always with that histrionic and captivating look typical of Daverio.

How to get

The event will be held outdoors in Piazza della Chiesa. First of all, we advise you to book a ferry to Elba island that will take you to Portoferraio. From here, you get to Marciana Marina simply by taking:

• The provincial road 24 up to Procchio;
• From Procchio, the provincial road 25 up to Marciana Marina.

The journey by car takes less than half an hour. If you don’t want to board a car on the ferry, you can also use the efficient public bus service, which connects all the main population centers of the island.

• We have suggested to book a ferry that will take you to the main town on Elba island. And Portoferraio is a destination that reserves many things to see and do, such as the ancient Medici fortresses, the house of Napoleon and some of the most beautiful beaches of Elba island, such as the beach of Ghiaie.
• Marciana Marina is located along the so-called Western Ring of Elba island. This is the coastal road from Procchio to Marina di Campo. This road is a succession of enchanting beaches, small and picturesque villages, glimpses of the sea that will leave you simply breathless.
