Paul Klee all’isola d’Elba: 8 days to discover a great master of painting

Even if it’s autumn, there’s always a good reason to visit Elba Island. Especially if you’re art enthusiasts. In fact, until October 31st, 2016, you will have the possibility to enjoy an exhibition dedicated to one of the greatest masters of painting: Paul Klee all’isola d’Elba.
The idea of the exhibition is a less-known particular: exactly ninety years ago, Paul Klee stayed on Elba Island for a while. The island was a sort of “studio” for the German painter. The place where he had the ideas for some of its most famous masterpieces.
The exhibition wants to be a sort of reconstruction of the stay on Elba of the German master, of his thoughts, of his ideas. In addition, will be exposed a photographic installation by Giampiero Palmieri to celebrate the ninetieth anniversary of the arrival of Paul Klee on Elba.
- Morning: from 9:30am to 1pm.
- Afternoon: from 3:30pm to 8pm.
- Evening: from 9pm to midnight.
How to get there
The exhibition Paul Klee all’isola d’Elba takes place at Saletta dei cristalli in San Piero in Campo. To get there from Portoferraio, the main port where ferries to Elba Island dock:
- Take the county road 24 to Procchio;
- From Procchio, take the county road 25 to Campo nell’Elba;
- From Campo nell’Elba, follow the road signs to San Piero in Campo.
The journey by car takes about thirty minutes.
The Anello occidentale
It’s the coastal road from Marina di Campo to Procchio. The so called Anello occidentale will allow you to see some of the most beautiful views that Elba Island can offer you: marinas, small villages, beaches, sea, chestnut trees.
