You are among the lucky ones that this year will spend the summer on Elba island. Marina di Campo, which you can see in the picture, is easily reached. And 7 August becomes an opportunity to participate in one of the most characteristic events taking place on Elba island: the 2018 edition of the patronal feast of Saint Gaetano.
The patronal feast can only begin in the parish church of Saint Gaetano in Marina di Campo: here, at 9:00 pm, the holy mass will be celebrated enriched by the performance of the Schola Cantorum Saint Gaetano. After the liturgy, we will move outdoors. At 10:00 pm, in fact, what could be considered as the most awaited moment of the feast, or the procession begins. It will wind through the streets of Rio Marina and will end with the statue of the saint placed on a boat for the suggestive blessing from the gulf. At 12:00 pm, final show of fireworks. The patronal feast of Saint Gaetano will also be a time when the sacred meets the profane. Because, since a few days before the actual event, there will be the opportunity to shop and taste the typical dishes of Elba island.
