For this year, you have decided to wait for the arrival of the new year on the beautiful Elba Island. Because you are fascinated by its nature, by its tranquillity, and its history. In other words, the reasons are really several to plan the trip. Now, you need only a good idea to spend the New Year’s Eve 2017 in a very special way.
Well, we can give you three ideas.
Idea #1: the spa
Not everyone knows that Elba Island is a recommended destination even for wellness tourism. The spa of San Giovanni is located near the gulf of Portoferraio: here, every visitor can find several wellness treatments, from the most classic to the most modern. You can spend a day dedicated solely to relaxation and wellness treatments, to restore body and mind.
Idea# 2: the atmospheres
Suggestive as only the old town centre of Portoferraio can be. During Christmas, its narrow streets and cosy squares are full of lights, sounds and colours. The atmosphere is absolutely special. Among the most beautiful places to see, there are the market, the San Crispino church, the teatro dei Vigilanti (an ancient theater), the Villa dei Mulini (one of the Napoleonic residences on the island).
And then, there are the Medici fortresses: it is a system of fortifications; the real “pillars” of this system are forte Falcone, forte Stella and torre della Linguella.
Idea #3: the panorama
It can be only the one that you will enjoy from the top of monte Capanne. This granite mountain is the highest peak of the island. From Marciana Marina, you can reach the peak thanks to the cable car or walking along two paths. Once at the top, you will admire the whole Island.
These are our three ideas to spend New Year’s Eve 2017 on Elba Island. Regardless what’s your favourite one, in the evening:
- A good dinner, tasting the typical dishes of Elba Island;
- The fireworks show at midnight on the seafront of Portoferraio.
