Granfondo elbaleatico: MTB in Tuscany among wonderful landscapes

It is the first stage of Elba bike tour 2016. An event not only for sport “professionists” but also for enthusiasts of MTB. This is an engaging and exciting way to visit Elba Island, in Tuscany. The 2016 edition of Granfondo elbaleatico will take place on April 24.

The race

• The starting point of Granfondo elbaleatico 2016 will be in Piazza Cavour, in the old town centre of Portoferraio. The exhibition will be set up on Molo Elba: you can visit the stands on April 23, from 12pm.
• The MTB Marathon trail is 61 km long on dirt road and will wind through some of the most beautiful landscapes that Elba Island can offer its visitors.
• The race will begin at 9:30am and at 10pm.
• At the end of the race, free pasta-party for the participants.

Not only dirt road

The main trail will be on dirt roads but this not the only type of race. In fact, Granfondo elbaleatico 2016 has three trails on paved road: Marathon (101 km), Classic (87 km), Light (67 km).

In total, the trails of the race are four (one on dirt road, three on paved roads). These trails will allow you to live this vacation in the way that you prefer: taking part in a challenging race or enjoying the landscapes of the island, the colours of the Mediterranean scrub and the scents of the sea.

A peculiar fact

The origin of the name Granfondo elbaleatico is one of the most characteristic (and good) wines of Elba Island: it’s Aleatico, a red dessert wine, to drink after that you’ve tasted the typical dishes of Elba Island.
