How many are the reasons to visit Elba Island? From beaches to cities, certainly several. But don’t forget: Spring and Summer on this island are enlivened by several awaited appointments. Such as these seven must-see events that will take place in June 2016.
The Santuario delle farfalle (literally, “Butterfly Sanctuary”), on monte Perone, is a path through colours and fragrances of nature. On June 2, on the occasion of the feast, guides and researchers will lead participants along this path illustrating the beauty of the many species of butterflies in this area.
From May 4, 1814, to February 27, 1815, the first French Emperor was exile on Elba Island. In less than one year, he changed and modernized the island. In June 2016, Elba will do homage to him with the historical re-enactment of Napoleon’s landing, which will begin in Portoferraio and will continue in in other locations of Elba.
This year, the Elba swing festival celebrates its fourth edition. It will take place in Capoliveri.
The first edition of this challenging two-stages swimming competition: Lacona-Lido, fifteen kilometers long (June 11); Capoliveri Pareti, thirty kilometers long (June 11).
The love of Italians for football is legendary. A love that does not stop even in Summer, as the success of beach soccer demonstrates. In June, the beach soccer champions will meet on the beach of Procchio to compete in the international tournament.
What better day to celebrate Summer? In the old town centre of Porto Azzurro, will tale place tastings, music performances and lantern launch at Midnight.
If the milonga is your passion, the event for you is the Elba world tango festival 2016. The streets, the squares and the sea of Marina di Campo become the locations for an event recommended both for enthusiasts and professional tango dancers.
