Visiting Elba in Autumn? A visit to the Capraia squid festival

Are you spending a little autumn vacation on Elba island? In this case, we can suggest an event that will put together two things: you will give yourself a pleasant excursion and, at the same time, you can taste some delicious culinary specialties. The event we are talking about is the 2018 edition of the Capraia squid festival, which will take place from 1 to 4 November 2018.

The festival

In the days of the event, Capraia will become a sort of small, open-air restaurant where you can taste the protagonist of the festival, the squid precisely, prepared in many different ways: the various creations will be offered by starred chefs and famous among the Tuscan restaurants (and not only).

And not just squid, since in the four days of the event you can also taste some of the typical dishes of Elba island, like the always present cacciucco (of which the squid is a fundamental ingredient) and the schiaccia briaca. In addition to all the participants, there will be lots of good music.

How to get

For this autumn holiday, have you booked a place on one of the ferries to Elba island that comes to Portoferraio, the main town on the island? Well, but even if you chose to stay in another location, all you have to do is reach the port of Portoferraio and, from here, embark on one of the many boats that take tourists to the island of Capraia: in the information kiosks you will find all the information you need.

An island to discover

When we name the island of Capraia, the beaches are always the very first thing that comes to mind. But there are many other things to see, such as the charming town, the numerous paths that cross hills and streams, the towers. In short: between a culinary specialty and the other, you will visit a place that will not fail to amaze you.
