Moby S.p.A., founded in 1959 by Achille Onorato, was formerly known as Nav.Ar.Ma. (Navigazione Arcipelago Maddalenino). In 1982, the company bought its first large ferry, which was renamed Moby Blue. The vessel was characterised by a blue whale painted on its hull. The animal became the symbol of the shipping company.
For the fifth year in a row, Moby has been awarded the 2018/2019 “No. 1 gold” quality seal by the German Institute for Quality and Finance for the quality of the services it provides. It was voted best ferry company by passengers at the Italian Travel Awards 2017.
