The port of Piombino is the place where you can catch ferries to the Island of Elba; Piombino has more than three million passengers each year, placing it among the busiest Italian ports.

The port of Piombino is linked to major national and international routes. The port area is in fact linked to Highway 398 and the S.G.C. Aurelia road. There are also links to national and European routes on Route E80 Tuscany - Lazio and Route E78 which connects Tyrrhenian and Adriatic seas going through Tuscany, Umbria, Marche.

With regard to the rail network, the Piombino Marittima – Campiglia line connects to the Genoa - Pisa – Rome line and then to E 80 railway line: Coruna - Narbonne - Ventimiglia - Rome, with branches from Pisa to Florence - Lucca - Pistoia and Bologna. At Sarzana the “pontremolese” line connects onto the railway line for the Brenner pass, passing through the Po Valley area. At Grosseto there are connections to Siena - Chiusi. The port of Piombino can also be reached by train, here there is the Piombino Marittima train station, which is about 80 meters from the Maritime Station.

The Maritime Station is right at the port, in front of the quays, next to it there is a car park where you can stay for two hours free and there are also long stay car parks.

The Maritime Station is part of a complex which also has a grocer’s, a bar, a bazaar, a newsagent’s, a hairdresser's, an information office and the Customer Reception Office for the Island of Elba from which you can collect your reserved Elba Ferry tickets.
